EDITOR'S NOTE

This issue has been put together under the theme of ‘Change’. All the previous issues were specific to a sub-discipline or trend which concerned the HR community. This issue attempts to zoom out and look at the larger picture in light of the recent developments that concern all of us.

HR in India has never been as interesting as today. There have been similarities in historic booms in the past, in countries across the world as they morphed into advanced and complex economies, but the rapidity and scale we see in India can arguably be second only to China. Even then the challenges are different and this issue will cover them in some detail.

The topics covered in this issue have been developed to first outline some of the larger issues facing the sectors we service, like economic aspects that are leading firms to change the way they do business and even revisit their talent models, to best practices and finding answers to vexing issues like spiraling wages for HR professionals, and then concluding with the way forward, strategic issues like Next Generation HR and tactical issues on how to train for developing HR capabilities.

Please share with us your thoughts on this issue.

Here’s wishing you an insightful and enjoyable read!
